It's hard to win over - or simply even ward off - the other things with feathers. These don't perch on the soul. They find a recess in it and rape it. The albatrosses seem to pleasure in draping themselves upon my shoulders when I'm alone. The buggers attract flocks of ravens to swirl over my head. I hope not to sit here long enough to draw the attention of carrion-fowl.
