I stumbled upon a blog post by another person non-believer in depression. "It's not real," she says. "It's just you being stuck in the past," she says. "It's just psychological".
First of all it IS real. It happens. Some people are biologically predisposed to it. Some people acquire it through mismanaged anger. Although yes, some individuals like emos and KSPs manufacture it and ham it up, there is a kind of depression that is authentic.
Secondly, depression doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the past. It could be triggered about the future. It could be triggered by the present. It sometimes doesn't have to be triggered at all, if it's a symptom of a genetically-determined chemical imbalance that goes haywire on its own, i.e., without requiring anything to upset it.
And thirdly, of course it's psychological, you genius! What else could it be - calorical? Mathematical?
I could assume that she's one of those sanguine types who are incapable of prolonged sadness. And because she doesn't struggle with depression, she most likely cannot sympathize with those who do.
By the way, while she pretends to be some sort of intellectual, her command of the English language betrays her. Several grammatical and spelling errors in one paragraph. If she isn't even smart enough to use her spelling-checker, I doubt she's capable of arriving at correct conclusions on psychological phenomena.
